Recent news Pyrate Music are proud to present "Stepping Stone" out on the 7th of July

The latest track from our captain, Dee Mond. Sporting all of the hallmarks that make a Dee Mond track, this one is a little different from the norm. Its fat, its dark, superb production, in fact its just what you would expect really. But this one has some glitter on it and a 4/4 beat that will kill cheap speakers! .. be warned.

A word from Dee Mond: "Pyrate Music is best known for our breaks releases, This one might remind people that there is more to Pyrate Music than just breaks"

So batten down the hatches and prepare for an audio tsunami.

But dont just take our word for it.......

"It's a builder, but unlike Bob this one sizzles away with intelligent restraint, until eventually you realise your frying! your in the frying pan! there's nowhere to go but the fire... stick it out in the non-stick 'cos it's ok it's a bangers and mash-up! wicked"

DJ Wreckage

"An epic seething beast that's going to chew up dance floors and spit them into the Pyrate Music spitoon."

Kenny Breaks. RSI Radio, LeithFM

Stepping Stone will be available through all the usual vendors, available from 7th of July. But as you are a Pyrate Music fan and we like to treat our crew now and then, you can stream it from the site now ! Awesome !

MIKEY MAGIC AT NUMBER 1!!!!

Metachemical is number 10 in the breaks chart and Squatter is number 17! It's a Pyrate Music takeover at Bubble Beat!!!

Pyrate Music is proud to present

MIKEY MAGIC - THE SHOVEL EP

(PYRDD008) Release date May 4th 2009

After the success of his Debut single, Mikey Magic decided it was time for a change of scenery. He decided to leave Australia's Gold coast and relocate back to Edinburgh to add the finishing touches to his "Shovel EP".

He gives us 4 tracks of driving bassy breaks in the style we have come to love him for. Kicking off with "Dont Ask" a track that can only be described as a monster! and continuing to shake the foundations all the way to the finale "Junk".

Born in Edinburgh previously based on Gold Coast, Australia. Started his musical life as a drummer in 1988. He then progressed on to DJ'ing in 1996 he then became one of the prominent figures on the breaks scene after being introduced to Big Beat by the Boogie-Mo team.

His DJing career has taken him to the Breaks capital Brighton and although he is predominantly a Breaks DJ you can catch him mixing everything from Hip Hop to Dub to Electroclash. He has guested alongside Freddy Fresh , Dave Angel, DJ Hurricane , Lady Wax to name but a few.

On a production side of things Mikey has been producing for over 9 years and now feels comfortable enough to share his Digit Type Breaks and Beats.

For previews of the Shovel EP check out the Pyrate Music myspace And dont forget to visit our homepage every now and then!

December 2008

Coming soon - releases from Squatter, Metachemical and Mikey Magic.

Dee Mond - On the 12th of December the captain of the Pyrate Music ship, loaded up the cargo and set sail to Leith FM for an exclusive live show on The Vinyl Club at peak time.

If you managed to tune in pre-club on that Friday you will have been blown away by what was on offer, thanks for all the emails and SMS messages we received during the 3 hour special. If you missed the show then fear not as we'll soon have it in our grasp ready to share with you all!

Squatter news - Throughout the month of December, Pyrate Music producer Squatter was doing a sponsored remix a day challenge for charity, a mammoth task which he took on board and, we're happy to announce, completed with competance.

Since the completion of this project the Pyrate Music resident DJs Ken & Gerry have been working on DJ mixes of the material for a double CD release, watch out for more info!

Squatter's Myspace

The first Pyrate Music podcast has been going down a storm all over the world with over 700 downloads and streams to date.

Every week now we're still getting nearly 100 hits as the traffic slows down which is amazing so a big thank you to everyone who has listened and we assure you that it won't be long 'til we're back in the studio to record the second one! Here's the link...

December 2008

A word from Squatter,

"Having just deferred my masters placement I have been thinking what best to do with my time and I have ended up thinking far too much about myself, so I have decided to do something which raises cash for people more useful than myself, and at the same time will force me to challenge my skills and productivity.

The idea is that I will remix a track and have it ready for download on each and every day of advent (and finally chrimbo day itself). Aaalllll the money goes to charity, I get nowt but the pleasure of making lots of noise.

The charity that we are working with is Making Music. With dwindling funding in the arts, we need to make sure we support each other, and Making Music do just this. Have a read about how they do do what they do do here...

December 2008

Pyrate Music has now moved distributor so look out for re-releases coming out 15th Dec and in the new year. New EPs coming too near the end of January. I'm in the process of writing the actual blog with all the official information but I thought I'd give you a heads up.

Also, we have just finished recording the first Pyrate Music Podcast which is currently running through the Pyrate Studios production team before it's release in a week or two, hosted by myself and Gerry we showcase some bangers from Dee Mond, Espion, Squatter and Mikey Magic in a radio show stylee, check it when it comes, it's beastly!

Remember to buy Pyrate products from beatsdigital.com to support our artists, beatsdigital give a higher percentage of the take to the artists themselves, and happy artists make more music, happily, as we all know! OK that's it for now, thanks for supporting Pyrate Music!

September 2008

Welcome to the first Pyrate Music blog! I'll pop on here every now and again with chat regarding Pyrates, music and any other titbits I think you'll find interesting so keep checking back for updates.

What a summer it has been, the weather was pretty poor here in Scotland so we didn't have many adventures out on the high seas but this did mean that our resident shipmates got the head down and produced some damn fine music. You'll hear it all very soon!

In May the 'Sharks' EP was released with breaks tracks from Squatter and Mikey Magic and Dee Mond and Espion taking things deeper with a more tech vibe. To go hand in hand with the release our first Pyrate boat party took it's maiden voyage on board the steamship Cruz in Edinburgh, what a night, bangin beats all round from Dee Mond, Mikey Magic, Munky Yoyo and myself. Also showcased on the night was the new live act with Dee Mond and vocalist Roisin O'Shea, warm up grooves provided by PWT and our MC for the night EAMC. Much fun was had, pictures on the main page. It was such a success that there are plans to host another very soon so watch this space, a Pyrate party is a night not to be missed!

Metachemical joined the label in July, pushing breaks out of Kingston with heavy basslines and warping filter melodies, we're very proud to host such talent, look out for many, many good things to come from this chap.

Dee Mond has been pumping out some healthy tunes over the past couple of months too with his track "Drawing Board" on the 'Sharks EP'. His single 'If You Can't See The Point' and the more recent release of the 'Hellfire' EP. Each track on 'Hellfire' is a dark, electro-tinged, dancefloor pounder illuminating the more frightening side of his twisted genius! My favourite from this EP has to be 'Overboard', it's a wee dirty! Don't just take my word for it though, hop on over to the sales section where you can try before you buy!

Coming soon from Pyrate Music is Squatter's new EP, I've had a wee preview of this and it's a mind-melting combination of breaks, techno and electronica all expertly executed in the clean, crisp fashion in which only he knows! We'll let you know when that is released, you won't be disappointed!

Dee Mond was also on local radio here in Edinburgh recently, Leith FM's Vinyl Club show and was such a success that he's been asked to perform a live set at their fund raiser in November. More details on that to follow soon too.

Well that's enough of my blethering, I'll be back soon with more news on the releases and upcoming shows so goodbye for now from myself and everyone at Pyrate Music.
